Our Mission Â
At MidState Arc, our mission is to support and advocate for children and adults with developmental disabilities (IDD) to reach their full potential. We support every individual in becoming accepted and respected members of their community, and advocate and support their families. Our vision has always been and continues to be: Value and Acceptance for All.
To move towards greater wellbeing, autonomy, and independence, people living with IDD must also unlearn dependence. We nurture each individual’s strengths and show both them and their families just how much they have to offer the world.

Our History
MidState Arc is a nonprofit dedicated to enabling people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) lead more independent and fulfilling lives. We were founded by families in 1952 and, today, we continue to operate with a great deal of input from families.
Our agency has supported hundreds of individuals in 26 towns across central Connecticut surrounding our headquarters in Meriden.
