MidState Arc is home to a flourishing aquaponic garden where our people grow produce that is served in the Arc Eatery, used in our healthy eating classes, and and sold to the public through a local sustainable food partner.
The aquaponic garden creates a year-round opportunity for people in our day programs to learn about growing and eating healthy food. In our self-contained system, the growing plants filter water for fish, which fertilize the soil. The garden is entirely maintained by individuals in our programs.
Greens with a purpose
Trifecta Ecosystems assists with upkeep on the aquaponics systems, and runs classes for the people who participate in our Physical Health and Transformation (PHAT) program. Produce grown in the garden that is not used by other MidState Arc programs is sold to the public through Trifecta's CSA program. The revenue from the sales is reinvested back into the PHAT program.
